Two people died and six are injured. A suspect allegedly stabbed a group of showgirls near Wynn Casino and the Resorts World Casino. This was on Thursday on the Las Vegas Strip. Las Vegas Metro Police received reports of multiple stabbings a little after 11:30 AM.
Information on the victims was not made available, but police said Thursday afternoon that there was a combination of locals and tourists among them.
Police arrested a suspect – who they reportedly spotted with “a large amount of blood on his sleeves” – in front of the Venetian within a matter of minutes.
Captain Dori Koren described the weapon as a large kitchen knife, which police recovered.
LVMP has not named a suspect but did share in a Thursday afternoon briefing that he is believed to be a Hispanic man not from the Las Vegas area.
Police also said that the initial stabbing was on the sidewalk and was unprovoked with no altercation beforehand.
The suspect then stabbed additional victims as he continued.
One victim is in critical condition and two others are in serious condition and one other is in fair condition. One woman claims that four of the people injured were showgirls that worked for her.
The woman, who did not identify herself to the outlet, claims that the male suspect “wanted to take a picture with the girls, and when they said ‘no,’ that is when the stabbing started”.
This seems to be an isolated event and officials did not release the identity of the victims as showgirls.
“Our destination has always placed the highest priority on the safety of our residents and visitors. At this time, all indications are that this was an isolated incident perpetrated by one individual, who has been apprehended.”
The investigation is still ongoing and the suspect’s name should be released soon.
