In the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, police were called to an apartment unit on Sunday evening in response to a well-being call. Once in the apartment, officers found a deceased man identified as 43-year-old Jose Aponte. They also encountered a second person who allegedly threatened them with physical harm. He is now being accused of attempting to flee by diving out of a 12th floor window.
The suspect, Michael Perry, was arrested after police allegedly saw him dive out of the 12th floor window. Perry was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He is being charged with assault using a dangerous weapon and murder.
“When police got there, they found the resident of the apartment deceased in the apartment with significant signs of physical trauma. Mr. Perry was farther back in the apartment. He had moved things to obscure himself. They called out to him, asked him if he had any weapons, and his response was ‘Come and find out,'” a prosecutor said during an arraignment hearing for Perry, according to WCVB.
A police report states that “the suspect was hanging upside down, outside of the window, being held on by only his underwear, which was caught on the window handle,” according to the outlet.
The case involving Michael Perry and Jose Aponte remains under investigation by Boston law enforcement at this time, and more details may soon be revealed as they progress with their investigation into what happened in the apartment unit.
