On Friday, the San Francisco Superior Court released shocking footage of the attack on 82-year-old Paul Pelosi, husband of Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The video shows an assailant identified as David DePape entering the home and struggling with Paul for control of a hammer. An officer then arrives and orders DePape to drop it before he swings it in Paul’s direction. The officers subdue the perpetrator while Paul lies motionless on the ground.
The chilling 911 call was also made public, revealing that Paul repeatedly informed the operator that he did not know his attacker despite another person in his home identifying him as “a friend of theirs”.
This incident was not merely an isolated act of violence; it was part of a pattern of criminal behavior that has been allowed to fester unchecked under Democratic leadership in California. This state has some of the most lenient laws when it comes to criminal justice, which has resulted in an explosion in crime rates over recent years – particularly for violent offenses like this one.
What makes this situation even more concerning is the reported motive behind DePape’s attack: he allegedly wanted to hurt Nancy Pelosi due to her “evil” policies from Washington D.C., indicating that his actions were politically motivated.
Maybe it’s time for Republicans to take action against those who would do harm or threaten our elected officials since Democrats can’t get a handle on it. We must demand swift action from our leaders so that criminals like David DePape cannot commit these types of heinous acts without facing serious consequences for their actions.
