A Radio Host Killed And Family Attacked!

A radio host for Detroit’s WWJ 950, Jim Matthews, was killed and the rest of his family was savagely attacked in their own home. A neighbor that had been invited to visit attacked Jim and his girlfriend, stabbing them multiple times. He then attempted to take his own life.

Matthews’ girlfriend managed to flee the home with the couple’s five-year-old daughter and flagged down a passing driver, TMZ reports.

The girlfriend, who has not been identified publicly by police, suffered stab wounds, and the young girl was also injured.

Police scrambled to the scene and found Matthews’ body.

Officers then found the couple’s 10-year-old son bound in a closet and suffering from blunt trauma injuries.

Jim Matthew’s girlfriend and son are said to be in critical condition and are still in the hospital. His daughter is said to be in stable condition.

Police said they later found the suspect, a 54-year-old man, in the property’s basement.

He had suffered a heroin overdose and a self-inflicted wound in a suspected suicide attempt.

He too was hospitalized and is thought to be in a stable condition.

Jim Matthew’s colleagues are said to be devastated. They described him as “one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet.”

“There have been many tears shed in our newsroom today and Jim will be greatly missed,” a statement from WWJ Newsradio 950 read.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jim’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

No one, including police, know what the motive of the attack was.

Chesterfield Township Police Chief Brian Bassett assured residents that the incident was an “isolated tragedy” and that it does not present a danger to the community at this time.

The name of the suspect has not been released and criminal charges have yet to be filed. The investigation into Matthew’s death is still ongoing.
