During a press conference, President Biden was asked about the state of the border crisis and his response did not sit well with many. His comments were laden with inaccuracies that have sparked outrage from Twitter critics and Republicans alike.
The first comment that has been met with criticism is that 20,000 pounds of fentanyl smuggled over the border could kill “1000 Americans”. This statement is inaccurate because it would take much less than 20,000 pounds of fentanyl to kill 1000 Americans. In fact, according to experts, as little as one kilogram (2.2 pounds) would be enough to kill thousands of people in the US.
The second comment that sparked controversy was when Biden claimed Vice President Kamala Harris “knows” more about the problems at the border than anyone else. This statement has been met with criticism because earlier this year Harris stated that she believes the southern border is “secure” which runs counter to what Biden said in his remarks about the state of chaos at the southern border due to illegal immigration – essentially contradicting himself within hours of each other.

Biden also made a perplexing denial of the idea that those who cross illegally understand the nature of their journey and are willing to pay smugglers for it even though they know full well what risks come with such an endeavor. This claim has been met with criticism from both Democrats and Republicans alike who argue this is simply not true – people crossing illegally understand very well what type of journey they are taking and willingly risk their lives for a chance at a better life in America despite knowing full well how dangerous it can be.
It’s no surprise that many have taken issue with Biden’s recent remarks on illegal immigration and its consequences at our southern borders – mainly because many of his statements were flat-out wrong or contradicted previous statements he had made over just a matter of hours before making them again during his press conference.
