The National Archives recently released 74 pages of emails that show an Archives lawyer and President Joe Biden’s attorneys worked together to secretly retrieve classified materials from the Penn Biden Center before the 2022 midterm elections. This reveals that the White House or Department of Justice (DOJ) instructed the Archives to hide this scandal from the American people.
This evidence comes after House oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) called out the Archives for not providing information about this document scandal before a January 24 deadline. Comer believes that either Attorney General Merrick Garland or President Joe Biden himself gave orders to keep this scandal hidden.
The emails confirm that on November 7, one day before the midterm elections, an Archives lawyer emailed Biden’s lawyers Bob Bauer and Pat Moore to arrange a time to collect materials in a “US Gov van” from Penn Biden Center in Washington DC. The emails also suggest another confidential material was stored in Boston and Philadelphia locations as well.
We still don’t know why Biden’s lawyers were looking for these documents but it is clear they wanted them kept secret. Furthermore, these documents may have never been revealed if it wasn’t for investigative reporting by CBS News on January 9th – weeks after initial revelations were discovered by his lawyers on November 2nd.
This troubling situation raises serious questions about why President Joe Biden would go to such lengths to cover up classified information until after election day – especially since he promised transparency during his candidacy campaign.
