Jared Leisek, co-founder of Adventures with Purpose, has been charged with child rape. A female relative of Leisek has accused him of the crimes, she said it happened in 1992 between the ages of 9 and 10 years old.
Doug Bishop, also a co-founder of the diving group, spoke out over the charges just days after Leisek was charged. He spoke out in a YouTube video he posted today.
“Everybody wants to know how I feel right now,” he said in the video, where he calls himself a voice for the voiceless.
“What happened 30 years ago has come to light and it’s been affecting everybody involved with this.”
“I’ll continue to follow the passion that I’ve developed for helping people, telling somebody’s story,” he continued.
“It’s unfortunate that I’ve developed this passion, and this has happened. It doesn’t align with what I believe in.
“I have daughters and I’m a father and I come from a really rough background. I’ve changed my life to become a really good man, and always follow the code, and that code has been violated.”
“We’ve worked with a lot of people, intimately, and there are a lot of people who are hurting right now, and I’m just as heartbroken,” he said.
Adventures with Purpose is most known for locating the body of Kiely Rodni. She went missing after a party in August of this year. The group found her after law enforcement couldn’t locate her or her car. Fans of the diving group noticed that Leisek wasn’t part of the search for Kiely Rodni and questioned where he was.
Since the group formed in 2019, they’ve “helped solve at least 23 missing person cases, some involving children, which they documented on their successful YouTube channel.” Adventures with Purpose state that they are “dedicated to helping families of missing loved ones.”
