Vanna White, an iconic hostess of the beloved game show “Wheel of Fortune” since 1982, reveals in a recent interview with People that it is “depressing” to think about life without her longtime run on the show.
White has starred alongside Pat Sajak for decades and has no plans to retire anytime soon. She says she hopes to continue hosting the show until she is no longer physically able. The 65-year-old says despite enjoying her job immensely for all these years, she knows that one day it will end and she isn’t looking forward to that day.
In the interview with People, White also discusses how much she admires Sajak who has been hosting the game show since 1981. She says they have had a great working relationship over the years and refers to him as family. Additionally, while discussing how they have kept things fresh for over 38 years, White shares how they are always trying new ways to make each episode funnier and more entertaining than before.
The game show’s future seems uncertain right now due to pandemic restrictions; however, Sajak recently shared that he and White were tested for coronavirus prior to shooting new episodes in September 2020 so that they could resume production safely. Despite this effort though, it is unclear when or if filming will actually resume because of restrictions still in place due to health concerns from COVID-19.
Furthermore, both hosts have talked about having mixed feelings about returning back on set because their ages put them at higher risk for contracting COVID-19 — but safety protocols have been implemented in order to keep them safe during filming if it does take place again soon.
